Convoluted Rock

I took this in New Zealand while walking amongst some damp rocks. I like the way that the rocks lead one's eye around the photo, and hint at a sort of fractal complexity, I can imagine the rocks continuing deep down in this manner, though I know that they don't (because in real life I looked!).

Prague Bridge

Some minor lighting changes were done on this image, and it has been "warmified" by Picasa. We had to climb quite high up in a guard tower to get this angle.

Prague at Night

This would be my favorite shot of all time. I say would because upon zooming in you'll find it to be slightly blurred, not enough to ruin the shot but enough to make it not quite as crisp as I want. I took this shot nearly 20 times but the lighting just wasn't good (for a fast shutter speed, its excellent lighting for a photo) and it was difficult to hold the camera still in the midst of a moving croud.

Flower Garden in Budapest

I've altered the lighting and saturation very slightly, but otherwise this shot is unaltered. I like the angle, though I would have preferred to take the shot so that the symmetry was more apparent. Unfortunately I would have had to be floating about 20 feet in the air to do that.

New Zealand Half-Tree

Taken two years ago in New Zealand, this photo has been edited very slightly (mostly lighting). I like the contrast between the tree, almost shining, and the small amount of green left on it.

New Zealand lake and mountains

Perhaps my favorite photo that I've ever taken, ever, this was taken, surprisingly enough, using my camera's "auto" setting. While one might point to the rather obtrusive wooden pole sticking up on the left as a flaw, I've found it lends the photo a sense of perspective; it gives one an idea of how far away everything else is. This isn't just speculation; I took nearly identical photos in nearly the same spot, just trying to keep that pole out of the shot, and each one of them lacks a sense of depth.

Massachusetts Fireworks

I tooks this a few years ago, when I had just gotten my camera. I couldn't hold it quite steady, so the lines waver a bit. I actually like the effect, though not the obviously blurred streetlamp (if I could remove the lamp one of these days....).

Castle Panorama in Budapest

Remarkably enough despite using the auto setting for the lighting on every shot in this panorama I didn't have to touch the lighting settings at all when I assembled it.

Barcelona's Magic Fountain

These four photos were taken at the same party/parade that we found ourselves in, looking at the Magic Fountain of Barcelona. I did alter the contrast slightly, but otherwise these are unedited photos. The link goes to a YouTube video which shows what these photos cannot, that the fountain plays music and changes in response to the music.

Fire in New Zealand

I used a slightly longer exposure than I otherwise would have, to get the blurred fire effect. Some minor lighting changes have been made. I like the contrast between the burnt logs and the bright fire. Visible at the lower edge of the photo is a fence surrounding the fire, something I tried not to include in the shot but was unable to completely avoid.

Australian Beach

This is another photo from my trip to Australia and New Zealand. Yes the waves were that perfect, the water that clear, and the rocks that shiny. I have not edited this.

New Zealand Mountain

My dad (I think) actually took this shot with my camera, I was elsewhere. This was taken during our New Zealand trip. I sharpened it a bit and played with the lighting/contrast. I like the juxtaposition of the ice and the springtime grass.

Prague - The fairytale city

Taken on a trip to Prague and Budapest. I played with the saturation and lighting slightly in photoshop, but other than that this is how the castle and bridge look.

Hungarian Stained Glass

With some minor lighting modifications applied after this photo was taken, this is among my favorite shots. I added a slight diffuse glow to the brighter panels. I do with the angle was better, but other than that there is little I would like to change. This was taken in Budapest.

Bridge on the Danube

This is another composite panorama, taking from a mountain/hill looking down at an angle on the Danube river in Budapest. While the angle is somewhat disconcerting (it gives me the impression that I'm falling), I like that the bridge is the entirety of the photo (which is why I chose this angle).

The Danube

The Danube river runs through the center of Budapest. This is another one of my composite panoramas, taking a few years ago.

Bare Mountain Panorama

This is a composite of several shots I took a few years ago atop Bare Mountain in Massachusetts.

Behold the mighty acid pools of Rotorua, New Zealand!

I took this in 2008 in Auckland, New Zealand. I really like the lighting.

Barcelona (Image 1)

While in Barcelona we saw a parade/party/procession, followed it, and ended up here.
